SISTER SLEDGE. American musical vocal group from Philadelphia first formed in 1971. The sisters symbolized strong family values and achieved international success at the height of the disco era. 1979 saw the release of their breakthrough album "We Are Family" which peaked at No3 on the US Album Chart going Platinum. The album included the classic disco single "We Are Family" which reached No2 on the US billboard charts and earned them a Grammy Award nomination, together with two other 1979 Top20 international hits "He's the Greatest Dancer" and "Lost in Music". Other US hits followed including ; a 1982 remake of Mary Wells' 1964 hit "My Guy" and other international hits including ; "Mama Never Told Me" (1973) / "Thinking of You" (1984) and their UK 1985 No1 "Frankie". Joni Sledge died of natural causes in Arizona aged 60 on March 10th 2017.
