The Smiths

THE SMITHS. Highly influential and important British Alternative Indie rock group (active between 1982-87) especially noted for Morrissey's unusual lyrics and Johnny Marr's complex guitar style. They released four studio LPs ; The Smiths (1984 UK No2) / Meat Is Murder (1985 UK No1) / The Queen is Dead (1986 UK No2) and Strangeways Here We Come (1987 UK No2). Along with their best known Top 10 singles ; This Charming Man / Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now and Sheila Take A Bow. Since their 1987 split, Morrissey has enjoyed a sparodic but successful solo career, however there have sadly remained constant acrimonius disputes between the band members in the courts over past rights and royalties. Despite being offered huge sums of money to reform on various occasions over the years, both Morrissey and Marr have repeatedly said in interviews that this will never happen..............
