Sonny And Cher

SONNY AND CHER. American husband and wife singing and acting duo between 1964-1977 best known for the worldwide 1965 No1 hit "I Got You Babe". Cher began as a backing singer for Phil Spector with groups like The Ronettes ; Sonny Bono was a songwriter and producer. During the 1970s they enjoyed huge success with their TV show "The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour" ; they divorced in 1975. Sonny Bono became an actor and politician but died in a skiing accident at Lake Tahoe in 1998 aged 62. Cher has continued her succesful music and acting career to the present day.
