Status Quo
STATUS QUO. English rock group first formed as The Spectres in 1962 by schoolboys Francis Rossi and Alan Lancaster known for their distinctive twelve bar boogie rock. They became The Status Quo in 1967 and went onto enjoy huge success during the 1970-80s, selling over 120 million records. They have recorded 60 UK chart hits (including 22 Top Ten records) making them the most successful rock group of all time. Classic singles include ; Pictures of Matchstick Men / Paper Plane / Caroline / Down Down / Roll Over Lay Down / Rain / Mystery Song / Whatever You Want and Rockin All Over The World. Number One LPs include ; Hello / On The Level / Blue For You and 1+9+8+2. The group still perform regularily today, playing Glastonbury 2009. Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt were both awarded OBEs in 2009 for services to music and for their extensive charity work for The Princes Trust. Guitarist Rick Parfitt very sadly died on December 24th 2016 aged 68 of a severe infection following a shoulder injury. Bassist Alan Lancaster died aged 72 on September 26th 2021
