Stephen Boyd

STEPHEN BOYD d1977. Irish actor who appeared in over 60 films. He remains best known for playing Messala in the 1959 film classic Ben Hur alongside Charlton Heston ; a role that earned him a Golden Globe for best supporting actor. He also received a second Golden Globe nomination in 1962 for Billy Rose's Jumbo. He died of a heart attack aged just 45 on June 2nd 1977 whilst playing golf with his wife at Porter Valley Country Club in California
