Stone Roses

THE STONE ROSES. British rock band formed in Manchester in 1983. One of the pioneering groups of the Madchester movement of the late 1980s to early 1990s. They released their debut album The Stone Roses in 1989 ; the album was a breakthrough success for the band and garnered critical acclaim, with many critics regarding it as one of the most important British albums ever recorded. At this time the group decided to capitalise on their success by signing to a major label ; then, their current record label Silvertone would not let them out of their contract, which led to a long legal battle that culminated with the band signing with Geffen records in 1991 and then releasing their second album Second Coming in 1994. The group disbanded after several lineup changes throughout the supporting tour, which began with Reni first departing, followed by Squire. Following much intensified media speculation, The Stone Roses called a press conference on 18th October 2011 to announce that the band had reunited and would perform a reunion world tour in 2012, including three homecoming shows in Heaton Park Manchester. Plans to record a third album in the future were also floated .....

Description:

An original 1995 autograph book page, clearly signed in various ballpoints by the five group members of this period ; Ian Brown (vocals) / John Squire (guitar) / Mani (bass) / Robbie Maddix (drums) and we think Nigel Ippinson (keyboards).

 

Certification:

One of a huge collection of 1980-90s autographs obtained by Jason a security guard during this period at The Brighton Centre. The Stone Roses as collectors notation played this venue on 2nd December 1995, so we can assume this to be the actual signing date. Description:

An original 1989 Silvertone Records 7in vinyl record sleeve for Gools Gold 4.15, clearly signed in black ink on the front cover by all four group members of band's most successful lineup ; vocalist Ian Brown x / guitarist John Squire xxx / bassist Gary "Mani" Mounfield (adding Love , a doodle and x and drummer Alan "Reni" Wren (adding wuz ere) 

 

Certification:

Fools Gold 4.15 was released on 13th November 1989 and reached No8 in the UK charts. This single was signed for J Bunch on March 6th 1990 when The Stone Roses appeared at Wolverhampton Magistrate's Court  charged with criminal damage over the Revolver raid. The case was adjourned when the defence and prosecution fail to agree on a figure for damages. The whole procedure lasted just 60 seconds. Afterwards the group mingled with fans for an hour talking and signing autographs. AFTAL Dealer No13 and UACC RD Memorabilia UK COA.
