The Graduate

The Graduate

THE GRADUATE. Classic 1967 American comedy-drama film directed by Mike Nichols based on the 1963 novel by Charles Webb who wrote it shortly after graduating from Williams College. The film tells the story of 20-year-old Benjamin Braddock (played by a 30-year-old Dustin Hoffman) a recent college graduate with no well-defined aim in life, who is seduced by an older woman (Mrs Robinson Anne Bancroft) and then proceeds to fall in love with her daughter Elaine Robinson (Katharine Ross). Adjusting for inflation it is one of the highest grossing films of all time, with just a 3 million USD production budget it took over 100 million USD at the time of its release.
