TOMMY STEELE. English singer / entertainer widely regarded to have been Britains first Rock n Roll teen idol during the 1950s. His best known song "Singin the Blues" was a UK No1 in 1957. ALMA COGAN d1966. English pop-singer of the 1950s and early 1960s once dubbed "The Girl With the Laugh / Giggle / Chuckle in Her Voice". She was the highest paid British female entertainer of her era. She died aged just 34 of ovarian cancer in 1966. EDDIE CALVERT d1978. English trumpeter who enjoyed his greatest successes during the 1950s. He scored his first UK No1 hit single in 1954 with the instrumental "Oh Mein Papa"
