VERA ELLEN d1981. American dancer and actress remembered for her performances alongside great male leads ; Fred Astaire / Gene Kelly and Danny Kaye. She is best known for her starring roles in On the Town and White Christmas (1954). She died of cancer in California aged 60 on August 30th 1981
