Whistling Jack Smith

Whistling Jack Smith
WHISTLING JACK SMITH d1999. English-Irish tenor singer, trumpeter and notable whistler. He had a No1 UK hit single in 1967 with "I was Kaiser Bills Batman" credited as Whistling Jack Smith. He recorded this as the solo whistler for a set fee and was never acknowledged as the performer of this unusual hit, nor paid any royalties. When the track was aired on Top of The Pops, his family were shocked to see an actor appear on stage to mime to the recorded backing track. One of his most well-known whistling achievements was as soloist whistler on the 1966 Spaghetti Western "The Good the Bad The Ugly" which is sometimes incorrectly accredited to Alessandro Allesandroni. He died aged 72 in 1999.
