YUL BRYNNER d1985. Russian born stage and film actor best known for his exceptional portrayal of Mongkut King of Siam with trademark shaven-head in the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical "The King and I". He won an Academy Award for Best Actor in the film version and also played the role over 4,500 times on stage. He is also remembered as Rameses 2nd in The Ten Commandments (1956) / General Bounine in Anastasia (1956) and Chris Adams in The Magnificent Seven (1960). Knowing he was dying of lung cancer, he starred in a string of farewell performances of The King and I on Broadway between January-June 1985.
