Yusef Lateef

YUSEF LATEEF d2013. American jazz multi-instrumentalist, composer and prominent figure among the Ahmadiyya Community in America in 1950. His main instruments were the tenor saxophone and flute, but he also played oboe and bassoon (both rare in jazz) and also used a number of other non-western instruments. He is known for having been an innovator in the blending of jazz with "Eastern" music. He died in Massachusettes aged 93 on December 23rd 2013.
