JOSIP BROZ TITO d1980. Yugoslav communist revolutionary and statesman, serving in various roles from 1943 until his death in 1980. During WW2, he was the leader of the Yugoslav Partisans, often regarded as the most effective resistance movement in German-occupied Europe. He also served as the President of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia from 14th January 1953 until his death aged 87 on 4th May 1980
