NITRINDA NARAYAN ROY d1978. English Channel swimmer who claimed to have swam from England to France on the 11/12th of September 1967 in a new record time of 10hrs 21mins. The Channel Swimming Association refused to recognise the swim because of doubt to its authenticity, but a rival association (The English Channel Swimming Association) agreed to recognise it and gave certification. He died on 23rd June 1978 (aged 39) whilst training for a two way swim
