Faces

THE FACES. English rock band formed in 1969 by members of The Small Faces after Steve Marriott left to join Humble Pie. They were then joined by two members of The Jeff Beck Group (Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood). Hugely popular, they toured regularily in the UK / USA and Europe, becoming one of the highest-grossing live acts of the period. Between 1969-1975, they released four studio albums including ; A Nod is As Good as A Wink (1971 UK No2) and Ooh La La (1973 UK No1) and Top 10 singles Stay with Me / Cindy Incidentally / Pool Hall Richard and You Can Make Me Sing Dance Anything. Ronnie Lane left in 1973 and his bassist role was filled by Tetsu Yamauchi. The other group members eventually went their separate-ways in the autumn of 1975. All enjoyed some solo-success (especially Rod Stewart) and Ronnie Wood who went on to join The Rolling Stones. Ronnie Lane died of MS aged just 51 in 1997. Ian McLagan died of a stroke aged 69 in 2014.
