Bela Lugosi

Bela Lugosi

BELA LUGOSI d1956. Hungarian actor of the 1930-40s best known for his outstanding portrayal of Count Dracula in a series of classic movies and on the theatre stage. He often appeared with co-star Boris Karloff in now iconic horror films including ; "The Raven" / "The Black Cat" and "Son of Frankenstein". Due to recurring ill health, he developed an addiction to painkillers whose effects seriously affected his being offered film roles. The resulting decline in his career, sadly led to one of the biggest box-office horror-film stars of the 1930s living in complete obscurity and poverty until his death of a heart attack aged 73 on August 16th 1956
