PETER LAWFORD d1984. English-American actor of the 1940-60s whose film credits include ; A Yank At Eton (1942) / White Cliffs of Dover (1944) / The Picture of Dorian Grey (1945) / Son Of Lassie (1945) / It Happened in Brooklyn (1947) / Good News (1947) / Easter Parade (1948) / Little Women (1949) / Royal Weding (1951) / Oceans 11 (1960) and The Longest Day (1962). He became an American citizen in 1960 and Frank Sinatra invited him to become a member of the notorious Hollywood "Rat Pack" ; by marriage he also became brother-in-law to US President John F Kennedy. In later years he perhaps became more noted for his off-screen activities as a celebrity, rather  than for his acting performances, especially on TV. His health declined in his latter years mainly due to substance abuse, he died aged 61 in 1984 after a cardiac arrest.
