Oliver Stone

OLIVER STONE. American writer and film-maker. He won an Academy Award for Midnight Express (1978) and wrote the much acclaimed gangster movie Scarface (1983). As a director, he achieved prominence as director / writer of the war drama Platoon (1986) winning an Academy Award for Best Director. Other notable successes include ; Born on The Fourth of July (1989) —for which he won his second Best Director Oscar / Heaven and Earth (1993) / Salvador (1986)  / Wall Street (1987) / The Doors (1991) and a trilogy of films based on the American Presidency ; JFK (1991) / Nixon (1995) and W (2008). His most recent film is Snowden (2016).
