SIR ALEC ISSIGONIS d1988. British-Greek automotive designer famous for "the Mini" launched by BMC in 1959. Voted the second most influential car of the 20th century in 1999 after the Model T Ford. He died in Birmingham aged 81 on October 2nd 1988
