APOLLO 11. The first manned space mission to land on the moon and the fifth human spaceflight of Project Apollo. Launched on July 16th 1969 it carried Commander Neil Armstrong / Command Module pilot Michael Collins and Lunar Module pilot Edwin Buzz Aldrin. On July 20th, Armstrong and Aldrin became the first humans to land on the moon while Collins orbited above. At 2.56 UTC July 21st 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the moon uttering the now iconic and legendary words ; "That's one small step for a man one giant leap for mankind". The craft returned safely to earth on July 24th. Neil Armstrong died in Ohio aged 82 on August 25th 2012. Michael Collins died in Florida aged 90 on April 28th 2021
