CECIL PARKER d1971. English character and comedy actor with a distinctive husky voice and a supercilious demeanor, who usually played supporting roles in his 91 films made between 1928 and 1969. Notable films include ; The Citadel (1938) / The Lady Vanishes (1940) / Under Capricorn (1949) / I Was Monty's Double (1958) / Swiss Family Robinson (1960) and The Ladykillers (1958). He died in Brighton aged 73 on 20th April 1971.

A good original handwritten letter in ink on is own headed paper (dated 2nd November 1949) by Cecil Parker.

Certification:

The letter importantly mentions three of his 1949 films ; "Dear Mr. Prohack" (Arthur Prohack) / "The Chiltern Hundreds" (Benjamin Beecham) and the Alfred Hitchcock directed "Under Capricorn" (The Governor). One of a wonderful collection of over 50 celebrity letters all obtained during the late 1940s to early 1950s by a Mr Douglas Squires. He was involved in editing a School / University Film & Theatre Entertainment magazine during this period and wrote to celebrities looking for a contribution of autographs and signed photographs for the magazine. Many of the letters are gracious and detailed replies with many references to helping his project and mentions of their careers at that point in time.
