CLAY REGAZZONI d2006. Swiss F1 racing driver who competed in the championship between 1970-1980 in 139 races scoring five wins. He finished 2nd in a Ferrari in the 1974 season. He scored Williams first ever GP victory at The British Grand Prix of 1979. Following a serious accident at the 1980 US GP, he was left paralyzed from the waist down, ending his career in Formula One. Regazzoni did not however stop racing ; he famously competed in the Paris-Dakar rally and Sebring 12 hours using a hand controlled car during the late 1980s and early 1990s. In 1996, he became a commentator for Italian TV. He died in a freak car accident aged 67 in Italy on December 15th 2006
