WITH three original vintage 1944 diary pages, clearly signed in pencil by (9) of his band members ; Clifton Smalls d2008 (piano) / Palmer Davis (trumpet) / Rene Hall d1988 (guitar) / Lloyd Smith (alto sax) / William Goodson (4th tenor) / Ira Pettiford (trumpet) / Shorty Cornell (trumpet) / Willie Cook d2000 (trumpet) and John Williams (saxophone)
Certification: | Collectors date notation for diary pages is Club Plantation May 27th 1944. From the substantial and wonderful music / jazz autograph collection of David Ives numbering several hundred items, mostly obtained by him during the 1950-80s. He was a frequent concert-goer and well-known writer / contributor for The Jazz Journal from the 1950s, corresponding regularily with some of the best known artists of the period. Many of the notes and autographs are dedicated to him. Includes a recent typed letter from a family member, further detailing the known history of his collecting.
