WORLD CUP 1970. The 1970 FIFA World Cup was the ninth edition of the FIFA World Cup. Held from 31st May to 21nd June in Mexico, it was the first World Cup tournament held outside Europe and South America and also the first held in North America. Brazil won the World Cup after beating Italy 4-1 in the Final. England beat both Romania and Czechoslovakia (1-0) but lost to Brazil (1-0). They went home after losing 3-2 to Germany in the Quarter Final
