Ian Dury

IAN DURY d2000. English singer-songwriter and fondly remembered leader of the distinctive sounding 1970s new wave punk rock group The Blockheads. They are best known for their UK No1 hits ; "Reasons to Be Cheerful" and "Hit Me with Your Rhythm Stick". Ian Dury died of cancer aged 57 in 2000, his life-story became a successful film biopic in 2010..

One of an absolutely outstanding mostly in-person autograph collection of over 500 items obtained by JD in Brighton & London during the late 1970's to 1990s. The majority being pop music acts of the period, along with actors and entertainers. The autographs are on records / fanzine magazine photographs and autograph book pages. Many are dedicated along with messages to the collector (Jonathan) and include dates & venues where they were obtained. There is a copy of a letter from him included (if required) that details his almost obsessive collecting exploits and memories of the time. A very rare full set of (circa 1981) signatures on the reverse of an envelope. Clear signatures of ; Ian Dury (who has added "Joe Strummer is a bummer") / Norman Watt Roy / John Turnbull / Mickey Gallagher / Wilko Johnson and Davey Payne.

 

 

Certification:

The signatures were obtained backstage after a concert at The Manchester Apollo in early 1981. Ian wrote the Joe Strummer message due to the obtainer asking him to say hello to him !! Includes typed letter from the obtainer. UACC RD Memorabilia UK COA.
