Lightnin' Hopkins

SAM JOHN LIGHTNIN' HOPKINS d1982. American country blues singer, songwriter, guitarist and occasional pianist from Texas. Widely regarded to be one of the great blues guitarists known for his very distinctive fingerpicking style. In 2010, Rolling Stone magazine ranked him No71 on its list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time. He died of esophageal cancer aged 69 in Houston on January 30th 1982. His obituary in the New York Times described him as "one of the great country blues singers and perhaps the greatest single influence on rock guitar players"
