Certification:From the autograph book of Dylan K who attended and had access to the paddock area at The British Grand Prix at Brands Hatch, held over the weekend of the 12-13th July 1986. The book contained the signatures of the majority of the most notable drivers on the GP Grid. It was the ninth race of the 1986 season and became the last British GP race ever held at Brands Hatch (from 1987 onwards the event moved to Silverstone). This race was notable for a first lap pile-up (involving Jacques Lafitte) which ended with a significant number of cars blocking the track entirely. The race was stopped without any drivers completing a single lap and was restarted over an hour later as Laffite had to be airlifted to hospital and the race could not be restarted without the medical helicopter in attendance. This was fortunate for Nigel Mansell whose Williams-Honda had suffered a driveshaft failure at the first start ; he was then allowed to restart as no full lap had been completed. Lucky also for Mansell was the fact that the spare Williams was his team-mate (Piquet's) for the weekend and they had the time to change the settings on it to suit him. Mansell then went on to win against a much-depleted grid in the spare car. He defeated Piquet in a straight fight, leading the Brazilian home by 5.574 seconds, much to the delight of the 110,000+ crowd in attendance. Reigning World Champion Alain Prost finished 3rd in his McLaren-Tag, one lap down on the Williams pair. We will include two original polaroid photographs taken on track on the day itself to support the provenance of this autograph. Michele Alboreto retired his Ferrari on Lap 51 with turbo problems.
