Mike Hailwood

MIKE HAILWOOD d1981. British GP & road-race motorcyle rider and Formula 1 car driver nicknamed "Mike the Bike". He is regarded by many as the greatest rider of all time ; winning nine World Championships during the 1960s (including 76 Wins in 152 GPs). He is also remembered for his extraordinary success at the TT Races, scoring 14 wins, including his now legendary comeback victory in 1978. He also had some success in F1 cars competing in 50 GPs with 2 Podium finishes. He retired in 1979 and was sadly killed aged just 40 in a freak car accident close to his home on 21st March 1981.
