Pete Townsend
Pete Townsend
PETE TOWNSEND. English guitarist, songwriter and leader of the legendary Who whose career has spanned over 50 years. Listed by Rolling Stone magazine as the 50th greatest guitarist of all time. The Who are a British mod-rock band first formed in 1964 who grew to be considered one of the greatest and most influential ever in popular music. They rose to fame with a pioneering and exciting live stage instrument destruction show and a series of classic Top 10 singles, including one of the decades defining rock anthems "My Generation". Their now legendary hellraising drummer Keith Moon died of a drug overdose in his sleep in 1978 and was replaced by Small Faces drummer Kenney Jones. Bassist John Entwistle died of a heart attack in Las Vegas in 2002. The groups two original remaining members (Daltrey & Townsend) continue to record and perform to high acclaim .........
