REGINALD TATE d1955. English actor and veteran of many roles on stage, films & TV. He is however best remembered as the first actor to play the science-fiction character Professor Bernard Quatermass in the 1953 BBC TV serial The Quatermass Experiment. He died of a heart attack on 23rd August 1955 aged 58, just two weeks after the BBC had commissioned a second Quatermass series.
