SAXON. English heavy-metal band formed in 1976 in South Yorkshire. At their peak during the 1980s they established themselves as one of Europes biggest metal acts and as one of the leaders of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. They scored five UK Top 20 albums between 1980-84 (Wheels of Steel / Strong Arm of The Law / Denim & Leather / Power and The Glory / Crusader) and their 1982 UK No5 Live LP The Eagle Has Landed is regarded as a classic of the genre. To date the band still tours regularly and has sold more than 15 million albums worldwide.
