SONNY BOY WILLIAMSON d1965. American blues singer-songwriter born Aleck Rice Miller. He is known as "The King of the Harmonica" and widely regarded to have been one of the greatest ever blues harp players. He first captivated audiences in the 1930s with his skill and tricks in using amplified sound. His first recordings were in 1951 and he then recorded around 70 songs for Chester Records between 1955 and 1964. He toured Europe extensively in the early 1960s also recording and playing with The Animals and The Yardbirds with Eric Clapton. He died aged 52 of a heart attack in his sleep at his rooming-house in Arkansas on May 24th 1965.
