TONY HANCOCK d1968. Popular British actor and comedian best known for the groundbreaking BBC Radio and TV series "Hancocks Half Hour" which began in 1954 making future stars of many of the performers. He became the first TV artist ever to be paid £1000 per episode. In later life he sunk into periods of intense depression and was an alcoholic. He commited suicide by overdose on 24th June 1968 in Sydney Australia.
