WHITNEY HOUSTON d2012. American R&B pop singer, actress and former fashion model. The most awarded female artist of all time according to The Guinness World Records ; including two Emmys and six Grammys amongst a total of 415 career awards as of 2010. One of the world's best selling music artists having sold over 200 million records. Her 1985 debut album Whitney Houston became the best-selling debut album ever by a female act at the time of its release. Her first acting role was as the star of the feature film "The Bodyguard" (1992). The movie's original soundtrack won the 1994 Grammy for The Album of The Year. Its lead single, "I Will Always Love You" is the biggest selling record by a female artist in music history. Amid widespread media coverage of her personal and professional life, Houston ended her 14-year marriage to singer Bobby Brown in 2006. In 2009, she released her seventh studio album, I Look To You ....On February 11th 2012 Houston was found unconscious aged just 48 in Suite 434 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, submerged in the bathtub ; she was later pronounced dead. The cause of death was not immediately known. It was later ruled by the coroner to have been an "accidental drowning". On March 22nd 2012, the Los Angeles County coroner's office reported the cause of Houston's death was drowning and the "effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use". The manner of death was later listed as "accidental" ..
