BIRDS. British R&B group active between 1963-1966 who released just four singles. Originally destined for stardom with their raw sound and often appearing on equal billing with The Who at some concert venues. A failed legal action during The American "Byrds" successful UK tour of 1965 led to their manager leaving ; afterwards the group faded due to name changes and disputes. Ron Wood went on to enjoy a high profile career as a member of The Faces and The Rolling Stones.
