When her father died in 1952, Elizabeth became Queen. Her Coronation Service in 1953 was the first to be televised. Her silver and golden jubilees were celebrated in 1977 and 2002. Her 60-year reign is currently the second longest ever for a British monarch. A wonderful Diamond Jubilee was celebrated in the UK and around The Commonwealth in June 2012 ; a year in which she will also celebrate her 86th birthday and Prince Philip his 91st birthday.
