Collectors notation Theatre Royal Brighton "Background" May 10th 1950. John Charlesworth would have been 14 years old at this time. From the autograph collection of Sheila Freeman of East Sussex collected at the Theatres in Brighton during the 1940-50s. Many are dedicated to her and some show collectors date / place notations. John Charlesworth

JOHN CHARLESWORTH d1960. British actor best known for appearing alongside Alastair Simm as Master Peter Cratchit in the 1951 film version of Charles Dicken's 'Scrooge. A Christmas Carol'. He also appeared in British films ; 'The Magic Box' (1951) / 'Tom Brown's Schooldays' (1951) and "The Children of The New Forest" (1955). Sadly he committed suicide aged just 24 on April 2nd 1960. He left suicide notes reading ; "In this life you can only let so many people down, then you realize you have gone too far!". Marital and money problems were later mentioned as the reason for his actions
