LAUREN BACALL d2014. American film actress and model known for her distinctive husky voice and sultry looks. She first emerged as leading lady in the film noir genre including appearances in ; The Big Sleep (1946) / Dark Passages (1947) / How To Marry A Millionaire (1953) and Designing Woman (1957). She was married to Hollywood icon Humphrey Bogart between 1945-1957. Her performance in the movie The Mirror Has Two Faces (1996) earned her a Golden Globe and Academy Award nomination. In 1999, she was ranked No20 of 25 actresses on the AFIs greatest female stars list. Bacall died on August 12th 2014 in New York, a month before her 90th birthday. According to her grandson Jamie Bogart, the actress died after suffering from a stroke.
