LUTHER VANDROSS d2005. American soul and R&B singer, songwriter and record producer. Known as the Velvet Voice", he sold over 40 million records worldwide and achieved eleven consecutive RIAA-certified Platinum albums. He won eight Grammy Awards including Song of the Year in 2004 for a track recorded not long before his death "Dance with My Father". In 2021, he was posthumously inducted into the National Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame. He has been ranked as one of the 200 greatest singers of all time (2023) by Rolling Stone and was named one of the 50 Great Voices by NPR. His hit songs include ; "Never Too Much" / "Here and Now" / "Any Love" / "Power of Love/Love Power" / "I Can Make It Better" and "For You to Love". Many of his songs were covers of original music by other artists. He died on July 1st 2005 in New Jersey aged 54
