Mary Hopkin

MARY HOPKIN. Welsh folk singer who was recommended by the model Twiggy to Paul McCartney after winning the ITV Talent Show Opportunity Knocks. As a result she became one of the first artists to record on The Beatles Apple record label. She is nowadays best known for her 1968 UK No1 (US No2) "Those Were The Days" and for being second to Dana in The 1970 Eurovision Song Contest with "Knock Knock Whose There".
