U2. Anthemic Irish rock band first formed in 1976. By the mid-1980s they had become a world renowned group noted for their extraordinary live shows. Their legendary 1987 album "The Joshua Tree" then elevated them from heroes to superstars right through to the present day. They are and will remain one of the biggest and most successful pop acts in the world continuing with groundbreaking tours ; Zoo (1992-3) / Popmart (1997-8 / Elevation (2001) / Vertigo (2005-6) / U2 360 (2009-11) and Joshua Tree (2017).
