ON THE REVERSE of this page is the rare autograph of British actor Wylie Watson d1966 famous for playing "Mr Memory" in Alfred Hitchcock's 1935 classic "The 39 Steps".

From the wonderful vintage autograph book (containing many notable actors of the 1940-50s) of P Sears whose father worked at Shepperton Film Studios during this period. Vivien Leigh

VIVIEN LEIGH d1967. Outstandingly beautiful English actress who famously won two Academy Awards for her portrayals of American "Southern Belles". She will forever be remembered as Scarlett OHara in the 1939 classic "Gone With The Wind" and as Blanche DuBois alongside Marlon Brando in "A Streetcar Named Desire" (1951). She was also a prolific stage performer, often in collaboration with her husband Laurence Olivier during the 1950s. She suffered with ill health throughout her adult life which blighted her later career. She died of tuberculosis aged just 53 on 8th July 1967.

So this page is likely from there. From the extensive vintage 1930s autograph collection of John Petrie of London containing many entertainment and sporting notables of the period. From the wonderful autograph collection of Desmond C containing many notable entertainers of the 1950-60s (Leigh & Olivier / Audrey Hepburn / Orson Welles / Sean Connery / Sammy Davis Jr etc). He collected most in person at the stage doors of theatres including ; Prince of Wales & Oxford New. He also had a good friend (DH) who worked in the box office at the Duke of York & Criterion theatres London.
