Lupe Velez

LUPE VELEZ d1944. Emotional high-spirited Mexican film actress and dancer of the 1930s. She is best known for her comedic roles in ; "The Squaw Man (1931) / Laughing Boy (1934) / Hollywood Party (1934) / Palooha (1934) and the Mexican Spitfire (1939). She had a series of highly-publicised romances with leading men of the period and was married to Johnny Weissmuller between 1933-1938. She committed suicide (aged just 36) whilst pregnant in 1944 from an overdose of sleeping pills ; supposedly due to the potential shame of giving birth to an illegitimate child ....
