BOBBY DARIN d1973. American entrepreneur actor and singer of the 1950-60s who performed in a wide range of music genres including ; pop, rock, jazz, folk and country. His best known hits include ; Splish Splash (1958) / Dream Lover and Mack The Knife (both UK No1s in 1959) / Beyond The Sea (1960) / Clementine (1960) / Lazy River (1961) / Things (1962) and If I Were A Carpenter (1966). As an actor his most notable performances were in Come September (1962) for which he won a Golden Globe and Captain Newman MD (1963). He suffered from infancy with poor health and was maybe driven to succeed in later life due to his once overhearing his doctor saying to his mother, that he would be lucky to live beyond the age of 16, due to recurring rheumatic fever weakening his heart. Bobby Darin died in 1973 (aged just 37) following a heart operation.
