Certification:The King Bees single "Liza Jane / Louie Louie" released in June 1964 was the first ever record a 17 year old Davie Jones (David Bowie) made as a lead singer in a band. The group played a type of R&B rock which was very different to the type of music David would later become famous for in his 1970s heyday. The song attracted the interest of manager Leslie Conn who produced and released it on Decca Vocalion records. It failed to chart and soon after Davie Jones joined the Manish Boys. The page is from the 1963-65 autograph book of Alison Scott (containing many music notables of the period) collected by her at the Blue Boar Services Watford Gap on the M1 motorway, a famous meeting point for the pop groups of the 1960s. Includes written Certification from Andy Peters of David Bowie Autograph.Com.
