Denny Hulme

Denny Hulme

DENNY HULME d1992. New Zealand Formula One driver and the World F1 Champion of 1967 for Brabham. Career record of 112 GPs with eight wins. He went on to race for McLaren (driving the M8D "Batmobile"). He drove the M8F in 1971 with teammate Peter Revson winning the CanAm championship that year. They both drove the McLaren M20 in the 1972 CanAm races. Hulme retired from Formula One at the end of the 1974 season and then raced only sporadically until the mid 1980s when he began racing Touring Cars seriously. His death aged just 56 (caused by a heart attack at the wheel) whilst driving a BMW M3 during the Bathurst 1000, made him at the time the first ever former Formula One champion to die of natural causes
