EPH SMITH d1972. English flat racing jockey who rode over 2000 winners (including the winners of three Classics) in a career spanning over 30 years AND his brother DOUG SMITH d1989. English flat racing jockey and trainer. During his career he was champion jockey five times (1954 / '55 / '56 / '58 / '59) finishing second on the riders' list seven times, riding a total of 3,112 winners. In 1989, he committed suicide aged 71 by drowning himself in the swimming pool at his home in Newmarket. Their 5,425 winners make them the most prolific riding brothers in English racing history
