LOUIS CHIRON d1979. Monégasque racing driver who competed in rallies, sports car races and Grands Prix. Amongst the greatest drivers between the two World Wars, his career embraced over thirty years, starting in 1927 and ending at the end of the 1950s. His F1 career lasted between 1950-58 with Maserati / Ecurie / Private / Lancia and Scuderia Sud. 19 entries with 1 podium. He remains the oldest driver ever to have finished a Formula One race with his 6th place (aged 55) in the 1955 Monaco Grand Prix. The Bugatti Chiron takes its name from him. He died in Monte Carlo aged 79 on June 22nd 1979
