PERCY SLEDGE d2015. American singer best known for the soul classic "When a Man Loves a Woman" first recorded in 1966. It became a worldwide hit and the first ever gold record released by Atlantic Records. It is listed as the 54th greatest record of all time by Rolling Stone Magazine. He was married twice, had twelve children and is survived by his second wife Rosa whom he married in 1980. Percy Sledge sadly recently died of liver cancer at his home in Baton Rouge aged 74 on April 14th 2015.
