REM. Influential pivotal American rock group of the alternative music genre formed in Georgia USA in 1980. Commercially their most succesful period was between 1991-1994 with classic albums "Out of Time" / "Automatic for The People" and "Monster" selling over 30 million records during this period. In 1996 they resigned with Warner Brothers for 80 million USD ; at the time the biggest contract in recording history. Original member Bill Berry left the band in 1997 ; the remaining three members continue to enjoy major success to the current day
